GNR AreX D: Desktop Retained Austenite Analyzer with 180-Second Results
The AreX D is a desktop X-ray diffractometer designed specifically for fast, accurate retained austenite measurement — delivering results in approximately 180 seconds, compliant with ASTM E 975-03, with no specialist operator required.
Phase transformation in critical and structural steel components is a sensitive parameter that directly affects mechanical and physical properties. Traditional metallographic methods often fall short at low concentrations — the AreX D overcomes this with XRD accuracy down to 0.5% retained austenite.
The AreX D measures integrated intensities of austenite (220) and (311) and ferrite (200) and (211) diffraction peaks. Multiple peak measurement minimizes preferred orientation effects and detects carbide interference. A video camera enables easy, precise sample alignment. Door interlock, thick steel frame, and lead shielding provide comprehensive X-ray safety.
