Spectro machines for metal testing image

Spectro has been in business for nearly forty years, making analytical equipment to test metals. Although the company’s headquarters is in Germany, its operation reaches every corner of the globe. When looking for a Spectro machine for metal testing, it pays to look at used items. Spectro’s older equipment maintains its value and is often perfectly serviceable. It can also cost about one-third as much as new metal testing equipment.

Metal Testing Machines Used for Spectro Analysis

There are five separate used Spectro products to choose from. All of these are mobile metal analyzers. The SpectroTest line is a mobile arc spark spectrometer for jobs requiring precise metal analysis. The SpectroPort line is a smaller unit.

The SpectroTest is an arc/spark metal analyzer that allows for precision analysis. It has the widest wavelength range (174 nm – 670 nm). And it allows for sorting and identifying alloys based on certain element contents. This unit has maximum flexibility and reach. This is accomplished with 4 m (13 ft.) or 8 m (26 ft.) quick-change sample probes. These allow for a wider area of operation, and that is without any need to move the spectrometer. The unit allows for point-and-shoot analysis. Plus it is battery-powered, which allows for up to 800 measurements on a single charge.

The SpectroTest JR is a spectrometer that incorporates a diffraction grating to allow for the dispersion of light. This unit is used for the spectrochemical analysis of nonmetallic substances, metals, and fluids. The SpectroTest JR may be fitted with indicators to allow for direct reading of the analytical results.

The SpectroTest F is a mobile spark optical emission spectrometer capable of analyzing light elements in spark mode that was built for use in the shop or in the field. Arc or spark excitation is available as well as a UV probe for Carbon, Phosphorus and Sulfur analysis. The wide screen is a nice feature for easier data analysis.

The SpectroTest M is another mobile spark optical emission spectrometer that is good for Carbon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur analysis and arc or spark excitation in the field or the shop. Here is a used SpectroTest M available in good condition.

The SpectroPort is as fast as a handheld XRF, accurately analyzing elements such as Carbon, Phosphorous, Beryllium, Silicon, Magnesium, and Aluminum, even at critical and low levels. It has a self-adjusting optical system to ensure consistent results.

Spectro Analysis Testing in Metal Analysis

Spectro analysis testing in metal analysis involves using Spectro Analytical Instruments to perform precise metal analysis through techniques such as arc/spark optical emission spectrometry (OES). These instruments allow for the identification and sorting of metal alloys by analyzing their elemental composition. The equipment, such as the SpectroTest and SpectroPort lines, provides accurate and flexible analysis capabilities. These are often essential in both field and laboratory settings. Regular maintenance and calibration are crucial for ensuring the instruments’ optimal performance.

Key Aspects of Spectro Analysis Testing:

Spectro Analytical Instruments for Metal Testing: Spectro’s range of analytical instruments, including the SpectroTest and SpectroPort lines, are designed for precision metal analysis. These instruments are capable of conducting arc/spark metal analysis, offering a wide wavelength range for detailed examination of metal samples. The mobility of these devices allows for flexible application in various settings, ensuring that precise analysis can be conducted on-site without the need to transport samples to a laboratory.

Applications and Benefits

The application of spectro analysis in metal testing is vast, covering areas such as quality control, material identification, and process monitoring in industries ranging from manufacturing to aerospace. The ability to accurately identify and quantify different elements within a metal sample is invaluable for ensuring the material meets the required specifications and standards.

Spectro Machine Maintenance and Calibration

Like all precision instruments, Spectro analytical devices require regular maintenance and calibration to ensure they continue to provide accurate and reliable results. This is particularly important for older equipment, which can still offer valuable service with the appropriate care.

Spectro analysis stands out as a cornerstone in metal testing, offering a blend of precision, versatility, and depth of analysis that is unmatched by many other methods. Its role in ensuring the quality and compliance of metal products cannot be overstated, making it an essential tool in the arsenal of materials scientists and engineers alike.

Spectro Service Needs

Like other optical emissions spectrometers, Spectro spectrometers require periodic maintenance and calibration. Especially with older Spectro equipment, servicing is required from time to time.

If you want to purchase a Spectro spectrometer, you will want to consider having it serviced at least once a year.
